Launch of new Mental Health Policy 2020 - 2030

Sri Lanka’s National Mental Health Policy for ten years was published on Tuesday (16) at the Ministry of Health after a delay of two years due to COVID-19. CAN MH Lanka participated in the event representing the consumer movement and the disability community in Sri Lanka.

Mental Health Action Day 2021 Sri Lanka Campaign

There is a considerable need for accessible, low-cost and quality mental health service options, including psychotherapy, rehabilitation and counselling services. Especially adolescents and young adults need proper guidance and support as they have a greater risk for experiencing adverse mental health or substance abuse consequences.

World Mental Health Day 2020

Mental health is one of the most neglected areas of public health.
That is why, for the World Mental Health Day 2020, CAN MH Lanka, together with the 'Speak Your Mind' campaign supported by the local and international partner organizations, commemorated the World Mental Health Day in the theme of 'Intersectoral Collaboration for Investment in Mental health'.

Our Vote Matters Campaign 2020

CAN MH Lanka, with the support of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka and in collaboration with the Technical Working Group for Disability Inclusive Elections (DIESL-TWG) and the Civic and Voter Education Working Group (CVEWG) facilitated by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Sri Lanka, working towards the inclusion of persons with psycho-social disabilities to the democratic process.

SAUMH Webinar: Suicide Prevention in the South Asian region

The SAUMH was established aiming for regional collaboration for mental health campaigning and advocacy. The annual session for this year is scheduled for the 29th of September 2021 from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm IST.

Seventy-fourth World Health Assembly
#WHA74

The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board.
The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHA74 will take place virtually from 24 May to 1 June 2021, in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
