Sri Lanka’s National Mental Health Policy for ten years was published on Tuesday (16) at the Ministry of Health after a delay of two years due to COVID-19. CAN MH Lanka participated in the event representing the consumer movement and the disability community in Sri Lanka.

This #worldmentalhealthday2021, WHO Sri Lanka, Ministry of Health, and Consumer Action Network Mental Health Lanka - CAN MH Lanka organized an online event, featuring inspiring stories from service users and dedicated care staff.

Together with the Professional Psychological Counselors' Association, CAN MH Lanka organises a series of knowledge-sharing sessions every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm. If you are an interested mental health practitioner, join us to share our knowledge among ourselves.

There is a considerable need for accessible, low-cost and quality mental health service options, including psychotherapy, rehabilitation and counselling services. Especially adolescents and young adults need proper guidance and support as they have a greater risk for experiencing adverse mental health or substance abuse consequences.

Mental health is one of the most neglected areas of public health.
That is why, for the World Mental Health Day 2020, CAN MH Lanka, together with the 'Speak Your Mind' campaign supported by the local and international partner organizations, commemorated the World Mental Health Day in the theme of 'Intersectoral Collaboration for Investment in Mental health'.

CAN MH Lanka, with the support of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka and in collaboration with the Technical Working Group for Disability Inclusive Elections (DIESL-TWG) and the Civic and Voter Education Working Group (CVEWG) facilitated by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Sri Lanka, working towards the inclusion of persons with psycho-social disabilities to the democratic process.

The SAUMH was established aiming for regional collaboration for mental health campaigning and advocacy. The annual session for this year is scheduled for the 29th of September 2021 from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm IST.

In partnership with over 800 brands, nonprofits, cultural leaders, and government agencies CAN MH Lanka is proud to be a partner in the first-ever Mental Health Action Day on Thursday, May 20th, when we encourage and empower people to take the next step for #MentalHealthAction.

The relationship between mental health and HIV is bi-directional. Without addressing mental health, there will be no end to the HIV and TB epidemics.

The inspiring, collaborative and supportive atmosphere is always a highlight of the Speak Your Mind Global Annual Planning meeting. This year was no exception, as campaigners from around the world reunited for three days of cross-country action and strategizing on mental health.
